Vitamin C Anti Aging – Using a Simple Vitamin to Fight Off the Signs of Aging

By Unknown

Each year people spend billions of dollars on anti-aging or anti-wrinkle creams and lotions. Though many of these products claim to be unique, most of them contain the same basic ingredients. It may surprise you to learn that one of the most popular ingredients in anti-wrinkle creams is vitamin C. But does vitamin C really help rejuvenate your skin? That is the question we will attempt to answer in this article.

There are two important reasons why vitamin C might actually help the skin. To begin with, vitamin C is required for the production of collagen, which is an essential structural protein in the skin. In fact, it is collagen that gives skin its elasticity and keeps it looking young and wrinkle-free. And lab tests have shown that when you add vitamin C to skin cells, it increases, substantially, the production of collagen. Vitamin C is also an antioxidant, which means that it can help prevent and reduce damage to the skin.

Having said all that, the fact is that most anti-wrinkle creams that contain vitamin C simply do not work. In test after test they have shown no real improvement in the levels of collagen in the skin and no noticeable reduction of wrinkles. So if vitamin C has been shown to rejuvenate the skin, why doesn’t it work in most products?

One reason that many of these creams and lotions fail to show results is due to the fact that vitamin C is fairly unstable. In fact, when it is exposed to the air, vitamin C is often converted to its oxidized form. And as most chemists know, the oxidized form of vitamin C cannot increase collagen production or act as an antioxidant to protect your skin. This is what you will quickly discover with most anti-wrinkle products, that the vitamin C has already been oxidized and is therefore useless by the time you put it on your skin. It is also true that only products with an extremely high concentration of vitamin C, over ten percent, have been proven topically effective.

While many companies do offer products with concentrated and stabilized vitamin C, they tend to be a bit on the expensive side. But if you are willing to fork over the extra cash, these products are effective. According to customer reviews, about fifty percent of users responded to vitamin C treatments. They reported that their skin felt and looked younger and that the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines were minimized.

When selecting a product, as we mentioned, make sure that you choose a quality brand and that it contains more than 10 percent vitamin C in a stabilized form. It is also important that you check the expiration date and make sure that the item was properly stored.

If you are looking to save some money, you can even make your own vitamin C gel at home. A simple internet search will reveal a number of sites that can provide you with step-by-step instructions. That way you can guarantee that the vitamin C in your creams and lotions will remain potent.

I have acne on my forehead and my friends don’t. I mean, I always take care of my skin. I clean it, and pamper it everyday while my friends don’t care if they had mud and dirt on their faces. I eat healthy and I hardly eat fast foods (I eat like 3 times per month) while my friends bring all these really unhealthy and greasy and oil lunches to school. I even drink a vitamin shake everyday that has vitamin a,e,c which I believe they are for healthy skin and other stuff. I also exercise, I joined a fitness club, I exercise everyday. And my friend hardly does. So why isn’t he getting any acne on his face while I do?

Short version: My friend does all the opposite things of caring for your skin while I care for my skin, but he doesn’t have acne and I do. Why is that?
We are both 13 years-old

Genetics
like why are some people short and others tall, it’s just your genes.
Or you’re further along in puberty than he is and the hormones haven’t started properly yet in him so he doesn’t get spots.
Just make sure you keep your skin clean and not greasy, ex foliate and use spot cream, don’t just wash with soap, there are loads of products on the market for acne.

clean and clear dual action oil free moisturizer
bodyshop vitamin c skin booster serum

maybelline dream matte mousse – only one i use as a make up item

The only thing that I suggest it putting your serum on BEFORE your moisturizer. The serum works below the skins surface, whereas your moisturizer works on the surface.

Proper Skincare Regime?

posted by admin

Hello! I am a 23 yr old, I travel via plane every week for work and I am not so sure If I am going over board with my skin care regime as u know we dehydrate 10 times faster onboard and with sudden climate and time changes doesnt help much with health and bad eating habits.
So this is what I usually do with my face
.
I use

Start of the Day Once a Week
-Faceshop Vit E UV moisture egg Mask

Daily Ritual
Step 1-BodyShop’s Moisture White Make up remover
Step 2-Facial Cleanser
Step 3-Avene’s Cleanance Anti-Shine Purifying Lotion Toner
(Step 3.1- Once a week I use SKII miracle essence water)
Step 4-Body Shop Vitamin C eye serum
Step 5-Collin Pore Refiner
Step 6-Christian Breton Face sculpture
Step 7-Olay UV whitening Lotion (Only if I am heading out of the house)
—–OR—-
Step 7-Enami Naturally Fair Moisturiser (Only if I am not going out and at night)
Step 8-Loose Powder =)

My Mask Processions once a week
Step 1- Kose Extraction Mask
Step 2-OxyTALK OXYgen Mask
Step 3-Body Shop Seaweed Mask

Other nights once a week

-Laneige Sleep Moisture Mask
-FaceShop Raspberry Collegen Mask

Before Flight
- Faceshop Hydro Gel Moisture mask

After Flight
-Face shop Eye Collagen Strip

Extra Cleansing
- Neutrogena Wave
-Safi Balqis Apricot Scrub with Q10

I think you may be overdoing it – skin needs time to breathe and generate new skin cells on its own and too much can clog your pores and prevent the natural shedding process. Also, I notice that you use a variety of brands – it’s not necessary, but often product lines are developed to work in conjunction with each other, so it’s best to stick to only a few if you need a variey. I actually recommend Neutrogena, and Evian makes a great hydrating mist sprat that is designed for flights and refreshing dehydrated skin. It’s fairly inexpensive as well. Also, if you aren’t using Bare Minerals or Bare Escentuals as your loose powder, I recommend that as well because unlike other powders and mineral makeup, it is slightly hydrating and allows your skin to breathe. hope that helps =)

Suggestions for skin care routine?

posted by admin

Product suggestion: read for details

To slow down the speed of wrinkle it is heard that if you wear makeup you should exfoliate,,cleanse, and moisturize.

I have normal skin and acne isn’t a problem lol I’m just wanting a list of some products that are good for exfoliating cleansing and moisturizing my skin to slow down the speed of aging for future benefits.

I heard vitamin C is really good but what products have that and works and is in a resonable price range..I think avon has some but I’m not sure what its called.

Any ways I’m sorry for such a long question but what are some good product suggestions?
I need these three but if you only have one feel free to post please.
*Exfoliate
*moisturize
* Cleanse

————-

Exfoliating is a wash with the little beads isn’t it?, I’m using clean and clear black head scrub and I’m liking it very well. But is that exfoliating it has the little scrubs in it.

Does a toner count as cleansing? I’m using witch hazel astringent

I can give an answer in full blown detail on this because am what my friends all the "goddess of skin care"..Not bragging, but just trying to assure u that u can count on my suggestion:
1st of all yes, Vitamic C is an excellent nutrient for your skin it is equally beneficial; consumed internally or applied externally. Vit C serums, creams etc can come at an expensive price tag, but I used a Vit C range from Bodyshop and compared to YSL and Estee Lauder Skin care products it is peanuts. As far as I can remember the vit c serum i used from them last me about 2 months for my under eye area, cost about £8 (sorry not sure if u r in the USA, should be about $15) They do an entire range on this vit c- facewash, scrub, mask, cleanser, cream, serum etc etc…
Can I also suggest u take Zinc supplements (consult doctor if ur pregnant or have underlying health condition), What zinc does it makes the elastin (stretchy thing which determines how tight n supple ur skin is) stay put for longer, as with old age it loosens n causes the skin to sag. Taking Zinc will prevent that.
And please make sure toner u use is absolutely alcohol free because alcohol is a drying agent and cause ur skin to get premature wrinkles. And as u mentioned astringent it does imply it has alcohol in it. So look for a toner from company like Vichy (u can ask for it in a big pharmacy-it is a french brand and is very good)
Exfoliation is the easiest to do without having to splurge money outside of home- best thing would be to exfoliate ur face n neck with ground almonds scrub on a damp face n palm (you can take almonds and grind a lot of almonds in a food-processor machine and make it part powdery and grainy- U can store it in a container in ur showeroom n use it alternate days before u shower) Almonds will provide vitamin E and polish away all dead skin cells and reveal glowing skin. If u r somedays having a bad skin day, like dry or oily or just tired try the almond scrub with following respectively- oily lemon juice, dry-millk, tired-tomato juice

If u can’t be bothered with making the almond scrub (but to me it is the best) u can try the St.Ives apricot scrub and remember when u r using the scrub on ur face, ease down the pressure from ur fingers/palms : very mild strokes…work well.

Moisturising with palmer’s cocoa butter, vit E, collagen lotion works best and makes a good primer for make up/foundation too. Just remember because it is cocoa butter n vit E in one, a little goes a long way….tiny specks on forehead, chin n one on either cheeks is more than sufficient and same for the neck

(and exfoliatant/exfoliation is not limited to wash- it can be a cream also)

I need help with my nose piercing!?

posted by admin

I’m getting my nose pierced and I want some confirmations on what not to do!

So..
a) I have pretty oily skin and I also work in a cafe that gets VERY hot during the day. What should I do to minimize chances of infection?
b) I’m also on an island where i like to swim in the ocean a lot, can I do this? What should I do after? Before?
c) To care for it– I’ve read to do it once AND twice a day and I don’t know which is actually better. Should I do it twice since my skin is oily?
d) I have a friend who soothes hers with Tea Tree oil, but I also read not to use that, should I?
e) I know I’m supposed to use antibacterial soap to clean it, any specific recommendations? I know some people use non-scented dish soap, any other kinds that have good chemicals?
f) I also read to take Vitamin C and Zinc supplements, is this important?

Thanks!

Don’t use anything other than non-iodized sea salt to clean your piercing!
2 times a day, for up to 10 minutes each time. Don’t use tea tree oil, and don’t use soap.
Just keep your body healthy, and your piercing will heal fine!
