So im 15 and my mum and dad entrusted me this little guy and they expect me to take care of him 24/7 by myself. I got him when he’s 3 3/4 months old and he’s now gonna be 4 months old.
Feeding. Since it’s his third day the feeding time is still a mess. I wake up at 10 am ( it’s summer break ) and feed him at 12 in the afternoon and 6:00 pm with enough food but is it enough or should I feed him more?
Excercise. I always walk around the house and outside ( gated house ) and he runs a lot but he always follows me EVERYWHERE I go so is this enough excercise? He pants with his little tongue out it’s just cute.
Grooming. The breeder said to give him baths twice a week but I argued with my dad and said dogs should only be given baths once a month or when they really need to. My Chi have dry skin around his face and neck and some all over his body. I bought Anti tick and flea shampoo and soap but I think the shampoo is too strong? Should I buy baby shampoo and soap?
Bonding time. Well he follows me everywhere and when I go watch tv on top of my bed he jumps on the bed frame so I pick him up. I always have to pick him up because he’s so tiny. Even when I go to the bathroom he’s there it’s kinda awkward. Sometimes I put him inside his big cage because I want some alone time but I only leave him inside there for half an hour or so because he NEEDS attention. He cries when I go outside my room so I have to take him with me. He’s scared of the maid, my mum not really, and my loud sister. I think he looks up to me as his master already
Or more like a guy-mom.
Diet. He eats dust and constantly licks the floor so I told my mom to buy a vacuum cleaner cuz we have tight spots around the house that can’t be reached with a broom and he can get in there easily. He eats table food as of now but Im planning to buy him dog food tomorrow and crush it cuz he only have little teeth and small fangs and he should ingest Vitamin C thrice a week. Is it good?
Me in school. School will start in a month and a half and Im in there for 12 hours. Should I let him out of his cage and run around the house or my room or let the maid look after him? But my maid is harsh on handling him but I’ll scold her. BAD MAID.
Sometimes I can’t do the things I really want to do because I always have to watch over him cuz he might get hurt or eat something gross. He likes to cuddle when I’m laying on the couch watching tv. He sleeps in his cage with a beach towel and a small pillow beside my bed ( with an aluminum tray at the bottom for his poo and pee ).
So how am I doing as a dog owner?
What? A rat? Chihuahuas are not rats. They’re just small like them.
LOL..
OK from chihuahua owner to another. You have me laughing my head off here. You have a very low maintenance breed. In the first year of growing you have to watch because chihuahua’s will get into everything and anything. They are the top worst for being a puppy. BUT. as an adult there is no better choice if you are a person who doesnt like to walk dogs, and have little time to care and play with your chi. One thing a Chi likes is love and cuddles. If you have the time for your Chi to curl by your side all day and night , he will do so. They do not like being left alone. Also they get very attached to one person. I can go on and on but I ‘ll post a site for you to look at, Read and read. Oh yeah, about the cage, when your Chihuahua gets potty trained, lose the cage.
